In this class we had a different teacher invited to share with us some ideas and useful activities when teaching teenagers. Teacher Claudia showed how to do handicrafts, also activities to create cards, and a mini book to teach a reading class.
Then she divided the class in groups of three, and we had to discuss some of the activities she had presented. After that she selected three students to share them with the rest of the class.
In next part of the class she provided each group two worksheets, each of them had a different activity and we had to discuss two different questions about the activities. The first one was: Who will you use it with (children/teenagers/adults), and the second one: Would you change something (topic)?

Kindergarten Workshop I
Date of lesson plan: Tuesday, November 8th 2016.

Topic: Kindergarten
In this class, teacher Orlando invited a new teacher from kindergarten to provide with some techniques and methods to use in order to teach children. She asked us to write a fruit on a piece of paper and paste it on the desk, then she mentioned any fruit and ask some questions.
After that, she asked us to sit on the floor and gave a sentence to the first person in the semicircle and we had to pass to others whispering, to check comprehension and if the phrase was the same. She asked one student from the class to pass to the front and teach to other "the colors".
She recommend to praise students at any time, and reward them, also use CD players, flashcards and use different materials.
She also explained the method use to grade in kindergarten: S- Sí, lo hace. P- En proceso. T- Todavía no lo hace.

Professions Reading

This was the last class with the children, my classmates prepared a well organized and dynamic class. Teacher Juan Jose started in the warm up stage playing a dart game, he formed two different team and they had to get the most points possible, throwing a ball in the circles on the board. Kids really enjoyed the activity and did not want to stop playing.
In the last stage, teacher Andrea presented the target vocabulary, using flashcards and the labels, she encouraged students to participate and repeat after her the words.
After that teacher Paolo provided students a worksheet, he asked students to read the text and complete the questions, they had to use some of the words presented in the vocabulary target. Then he checked the answers in general to check comprehension of the reading.
In the next stage teacher Gabriela gave students a different worksheet to fill in the blanks, after that check as a whole to see if they had completed the exercises.
In the warm up stage, teacher Juan Jose pass the last quiz of the unit to children, they formed lines and completed the quiz easily. Overall, it was a great experience working with chidlren this semester, you have to be very patient, creative, dedicated and have to be prepared because children are unpredictable.

This time students had to classes the same day. Teacher Xiomara gave some instructions in Spanish and ask students to behave properly and the one who did it was going to get a prize at the end. Teacher Roxana started the warm up stage, playing a die game, students made two different teams and they had to throw the die, and depending on the number they get they were going moving on.
Then teacher Xiomara presented the new vocabulary using flashcards, she used real lifes examples and ask each student to repeat the words as many times as necessary.
In the next stage, they gave students a worksheet and explained the instructions, teacher played the audio and students had to be ready to complete the exercises, they did a great job and this time the audio was working fine so students were able to get the answers quickly. After that they checked the answers in general to make sure students had understood and completed correctly.
In the post listening stage, teachers asked students to stand up, they gave each student a flashcard with the profession and they had to match with the different place of work of each profession.
In the last activity, teacher Gabriela made two different groups and students had to take a spoon using their mouth and carrying a ball of chocolate and take it to the other side of the class. Students really enjoyed the activity and had fun.

This time my classmates taught the grammar skill.Teacher Charlie started the class and gave some general instructions in Spanish, he also explained students that they were going to write their names if they participated in the class and put them in a box, so that at the end of the class they were going to do a raffle and gave a prize to the winner.
Then teacher Guillermo was in charge of the warm up stage, he asked students to stand up and form two lines, student from each team had to throw a ball and earn the most points possible, in a cirlce that was drawn in the board. The team that lost, had to say the name of the professions they show using flashcards.
In the next stage, teacher Maria Jose presented the grammar topic: "verb to be", she used examples and asked students to repeat after her the words. She presented the question: Who is he/she? Who are you? and their answers respectively. Then she asked some students to go to the board and provided a mask representing the professions, she asked to the rest of the class the question previously taught and they had to answer the correct profession.
In the next part of the class, teacher Maria Jose provided students a worksheet in which they had to write the correct structure of the verb be according to the professions, students were doing a pretty good job and were capable to do the task.
In the second practice, teacher Mariana had pasted three different color charts in the board and students were also given three different color sticks. The color green represented "he is"; the red color "I am"; and the yellow "she is". Students had to hold in the air the color stick that represented each flashcard she showed them.
After that students had to prepare a mini role presentation, they had to ask the question: Who are you?and use any of the professions to answer the question.
In the last part teacher Charlie passed two different ballons, and the student who had the color he mentioned was showed a flashcard and had to say the name using the structure of verb be.

Professions Vocabulary

This was our second time to teach children, teacher Yansi and Nicole were our assistants and helped us providing students their name tags while I explained students that we were having a quiz about previous unit. I provided the instructions and asked to write their name and the date, then they continue with the quiz.
Before we started the class, teacher Nelson explained some rules in Spanish so that students could pay attention in the class and could behave. In the warm up stage, teacher Nicole asked students to stand up and play hopscotch, they had to get until the end to reach the moon, and the one who did it first got a point for their team. Students really enjoyed the activity.
In the presentation stage, I showed students the new vocabulary about professions using flashcards and the labels, I asked them to repeat the words as many times as necessary. Most of the students already knew some words and did a pretty good job while guessing them. Then teacher Nelson helped me continue to teach the other words of the vocabulary. We also taught the question: What do you want to be? and students had to answer I want to be a doctor, for example.
In the next stage we provided students a worksheet so they could match the job occupation with the object each of them use while working. Then we checked in general and students did a great job.
In the second practice, we played the memory card game, some flashcards were pasted on the board and students had to find the correct image with its name, and the person who find it had to answer the question: What do you want to be? using the profession they had found.
In the production stage, we asked students to stand up and make pairs, they were facing each other and one student was given a flashcard and the other had to ask the question What do you want to be? and the other student had to answer according to the flashcard they had, using the structure I want to be a ___.
In the last activity, teacher Yansi passed a ball and count to five when she said stop and the children who had the ball was showed two flaschards and they had to decide which profession they wanted to do.

She also asked the question: What is this? to check if students had understood the vocabulary target.
Then, teacher Nicole continue with the other part of the class, and pasted some questions in the board about the reading. Teacher Nicole, started reading the passage and ask students to pay attention so they could get the correct answers for the questions in the board, while teacher Nicole was reading, one student wanted to continue and help her, so she encouraged him to continue reading the passage. After that, they check comprehension and answer the questions.
In the next stage, teacher asked students to stand up, they played a memory card game they pasted the flaschards in the board and had to guess the correct image with the word. Very interesting activity, children really enjoy playing this game.
In the last part, they play the hot hat, they had to pass the hat and students who had it when teacher stopped counting was showed a pictured and they had to mention the name of the image.
